How to Get Five Stars in "Pokemon: HeartGold" Game Cards
In "Pokemon: HeartGold Version," your achievements as a trainer are represented on your trainer card. Your trainer card includes the number of different Pokemon species in your Pokedex, the amount of time you have played the game and the date you first started playing. You can also earn up to five gold stars to adorn your trainer card by accomplishing certain feats in the game.

Battle and defeat the Elite Four and become the champion of the Pokemon League to earn the first star on your trainer card.

Talk to either Ethan or Lyra in New Bark Town and show that character a Pokemon with five shiny leaves to get another star on your trainer card.

Compete in all 10 Pokeathlon events in the Pokeathlon Dome and break each of the established records to earn another star.

Defeat 100 trainers in a row in the Battle Frontier's Battle Tower. You will be rewarded with another star on your trainer card.

Capture one of each Pokemon species in the National Pokedex, except for the legendary Pokemon Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Deoxys, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin and Arceus.

Tips & Warnings
You do not need to earn your trainer card stars in this exact order. You may find it easier to earn some stars before others.
You can find shiny leaves in different grassy areas depending on your Pokemon's nature.
As you earn more stars for your trainer card, your trainer card will change colors.
