Instructions

    • 1

Pick a wall to feature bamboo sticks on. A wall that is easy to see is ideal, such as a wall behind a bed or a sofa.

    • 2

Hang the bamboo sticks side by side in a vertical or horizontal fashion to create a wallpaper effect. Start at the top of the wall near the ceiling or the bottom of the wall near the floor if you are hanging them horizontally. Alternatively, start at one of the edges of the wall if you are hanging them in a vertical fashion. For either arrangement, drill a screw into either end of each stick until the wall is completely covered with the material.

    • 3

Space the bamboo sticks apart so there is a 4- to 6-inch gap between them, allowing the paint on the wall to show through the sticks. Use a measuring tape to measure out the distance between the sticks. Then, use a straight edge and a pencil to draw lines on the determined points to map out the layout of the sticks. Hang the sticks on the mapped-out locations, and use a power drill to drill screws into either end of the sticks.

    • 4

Create a focal point in the middle of the wall by cutting bamboo sticks and vertically or horizontally hanging them side by side to create a sort of bamboo mat on the wall. Hang decorative molding around the bamboo to create the look of a picture frame around the sticks. Hang the sticks on the wall with screws and a power drill, as described in Steps 2 and 3. Hang the molding around the bamboo with screws in either end of each piece of molding.

    • 5

Install thin bamboo slats in a vertical, side-by-side fashion along the bottom of the walls to create the look of bamboo wainscoting. Top the vertical bamboo sticks with thicker bamboo sticks in a horizontal manner. Install the sticks in the same manner as described in Steps 2 and 3.
