How to Get a Job Working in a Fashion Show
Jobs in the fashion industry are highly coveted and, therefore, highly competitive. Many aspiring designers and photographers get their start working behind the scenes at a fashion show. However, even entry-level fashion show jobs can be difficult to obtain. To get a job at a fashion show, you need education, experience and connections.

1
Obtain a degree or certificate in a fashion-related field, particularly if you have no prior experience in fashion. Alternatively, take a summer course to introduce yourself to the world of fashion and get your foot in the door. Ideally, target fashion schools in New York, which are the most respected and widely recognized.
-
2
Network with other professionals in the field of fashion. Use your classes as an opportunity to make connections with others in the field. Develop a relationship with professors, guest lecturers and other students that have pull in the fashion arena. Encourage these professionals to keep their eyes out for entry-level opportunities at fashion shows and other gigs.

3
Build your resume. Volunteer or intern at a design studio, magazine or other fashion-related business. Even if unpaid, this experience will improve your marketability in the industry and expand your network of professionals.

4
Regularly check the events calendar of major fashion organizations, such as the Fashion Calendar (fashioncalendar.com) or the Council of Fashion Designers of America (cfda.com). These organizations post the dates for fashion shows in cities across the country and provide contact information for show organizers.
