Do It Yourself Rose Brooch
Creating homemade brooches from silk flowers costs a few dollars and allows you to accent your outfits. These brooches can be given as gifts for birthdays or holidays like Mother's Day. Choose your favorite color when creating a brooch or make many that coordinate with all of your outfits. You can wear your brooch pinned near your neck or add it to your jacket's lapel to dress up your winter look.

1
Snip a rose from the stem of flowers using the wire cutters. Select a stem of wide, open roses as opposed to narrow, closed roses. Cut off the flower head as close to its base as possible.
-
2
Dab some hot glue on the back of the flower and attach the hinged pin. Hold in place for a minute while the glue sets.

3
Snip a leaf from the rose stem and glue it to the back of the flower so it hides the spine of the pin without blocking the clasp. If needed, trim the leaf to the appropriate shape. Add multiple leaves to embellish the brooch, if you want.
-
4
Allow the glue to dry completely before pinning the brooch on your outfit or giving it as a gift.

Tips & Warnings
You can also glue gemstones in the center of the flower or include a sprig of silk baby's breath to further dress up the brooch. Use any kind of flower you like, or mix up petals from multiple flowers.
Be careful when working with hot glue to avoid burns.
