How to Reset a Nook to Return It

The Nook is Barnes & Noble's entry into the flourishing e-reader market. Similar to Amazon's Kindle in size and shape, it comes in color and black-and-white, and allows you to read e-books and magazines that can be downloaded to its on-board memory. If you would like to return your Nook in the same condition you bought it, you can perform a hard reset to restore it to its factory condition.

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn off your Nook.

    • 2

Press the power button briefly. As soon as the black screen flashes, hold down the power button again. Keep the button down for at least 12 seconds.

    • 3

Release the button. Press it again briefly, and then hold down the power button as soon as the black screen flashes. Repeat this process six times.

    • 4

Restart your Nook. The Nook will restart normally and download the latest firmware, restoring itself to factory original settings.
