How to Add Personal Markers to My Google Map
Google Maps provides a set of icons to mark places of interest on your map. When you want to save a marked location, you can choose one of those default markers, or add customized markers to the list of choices. Many Google Maps users create custom icons and make them available for free downloading. Others use graphics software to design personal markers. You can use Picasa Web, already included with your Google account, to host the marker image files and incorporate them into your Google Map.
