How to Make a Scarecrow Flower Pick
Add a scarecrow flower pick to a fall arrangement to give it a touch of whimsy. Use natural materials and warm colors to craft a pick that will enhance an arrangement of autumn flowers or leaves. Use a scarecrow with a jaunty green shirt to add color to a pot of yellow mums. Use burlap for the clothes to add a natural touch to an arrangement of red and yellow preserved oak leaves.

1
Place the center of a craft stick 1 inch below the top end of an 12-inch floral pick and secure it with floral wire.
-
2
Cut a 16-inch by 6-inch rectangle of fabric. Fold it in half widthwise and cut a 1/4-inch slit in the center of the fold.

3
Stick the end of the floral pick through the slit. Place the fold over along the top of the craft stick. Cut a 7-inch-tall, 2-inch-wide rectangle from each of the bottom corners of both layers of fabric to cut a shirt shape from the fabric. Use double-stick tape to stick the front layer of fabric to the back along the bottom edge of the sleeves.
-
4
Stick a 1/12-inch-diameter Styrofoam ball onto the end of the floral pick above the craft stick. Pull it off and place a bit of hot glue on the end of the pick before you push it back on.
-
5
Cut a 6-inch square from ecru fabric. Drape it over the ball and tie it together under the ball with string.
-
6
Draw features on the ball with markers. Hot-glue a 3-inch straw hat on the head. Tie twine loosely around the waist for a belt.
