How to Work With Sugar Paper
Edible sugar paper is a delectable creation that is half food science, half computer technology. The paper is composed of a dry, paper-thin, sugary substance. Things You'll Need
- Sugar paper
- Edible ink marker or pen
- Cake decorating rotary cutting tool or shaped bakery punches
- Small dish
- Piping gel
- Pastry paintbrush
- Frosted confection (cake, cupcake, cookie)

Lay the sugar paper on your work surface with the printed side face-down. The back side of the sugar paper should be facing you.

Mark the dimensions or shape that you want to cover in sugar paper with an edible ink marker or pen.

Cut the shape out of the sheet with a rotary cutting tool. Alternatively, cut the paper with shaped food punches to create small pieces in standard shapes, such as hearts and stars.

Squeeze piping gel in a small dish. Dip the paintbrush into the gel. Brush the backside of the sugar paper shape with piping gel.

Place the paper on the frosted surface of the confection.

Tips & Warnings
Piping gel is essentially clear icing.
Though you can handle sugar paper in ways similar to regular paper, it's more delicate than pulp-based paper so handle it with care.
