Instructions

    • 1

Vacuum the sofa to remove all loose dirt. For smelly couches, sprinkle them with a light dusting of baking soda, and let sit for 30 minutes before you vacuum it. Remember to vacuum under and around all cushions.

    • 2

Mix 2 tbsp. laundry detergent with 2 tbsp. water in a bowl. Use a whisk to create a foamy texture.

    • 3

Dip a clean rag or nylon scrub brush into the foam, collecting only the foam and none of the liquid at the bottom of the bowl. Scrub the foam gently across the couch, cleaning the surface and the cushions.

    • 4

Wipe the couch with a damp rag to remove soapy residue, then let the upholstery air-dry.

    • 5

Steam clean the couch if possible. A steamer is typically used with water alone or water mixed with steam cleaning solution. Steam cleaning will remove stains and deep-clean your sofa with ease. Allow the couch to air-dry after the steam cleaning.
