Make edible rings to top cupcakes for an engagement celebration.

Make edible rings and bracelets to top miniature cupcakes for a creative dessert at a fashion or beauty-themed birthday party or special celebration. The edible dessert toppings are simple to make and can be more cost effective than store-bought toppers. You can make the edible jewelry in colors that coordinate with the party's color scheme or use yellow fondant for the rings and white fondant for the bracelets. Paint the decorations with some luster dust to make gold-toned and pearl jewelry.

Instructions

  1. Fondant Rings

    • 1

Roll a small piece of fondant into a log shape about 1 inch long and 1/4-inch wide. Make one log shape for each ring you would like to make.

    • 2

Shape the fondant into a circle, moisten the ends with water and press the ends together.

    • 3

Insert a toothpick into the pointed end of a medium-size, edible gemstone. Cut the opposite end so about 1/4-inch of the toothpick protrudes from the gemstone.

    • 4

Attach the gemstone to the fondant ring by inserting the small end of the toothpick into the fondant. Set the ring aside to dry for 24 hours.

    • 5

Mix 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice with a bit of silver or gold luster dust. Use a small paintbrush to paint the mixture onto the fondant ring. Let the coating dry for 30 minutes.

    • 6

Put one ring on the top center of each cupcake.

    Edible Bracelet

    • 7

Roll small pieces of fondant into balls about 3/8-inch in diameter each. Make about eight balls for each bracelet.

    • 8

Cut a 3-inch piece of shoestring licorice.

    • 9

Make a hole through each fondant ball with a toothpick. Move the toothpick around inside the hole to widen the hole slightly.

    • 10

Slide seven of the fondant beads onto the piece of licorice. Slide the eighth ball onto one end. Slide the other end of the licorice into the eighth ball to join the ends of the bracelet.

    • 11

Mix one tablespoon of lemon juice with the pearl luster dust and paint each of the fondant balls on the bracelet with the mixture. Let the bracelet dry for about 12 hours and then drape the bracelet over a miniature cupcake.
