Textured frosting is pretty, but it doesn't represent Mr. Potato Head's smooth skin. Bake the appropriate number of cupcakes using your favorite cupcake recipe. Frost the cupcakes with peanut butter frosting or white frosting colored light brown with food coloring. Use a spatula to frost the cupcakes; you want the frosting to be smooth and texture free. This will provide the base and body of Mr. Potato Head.

Mr. Potato Head has blue glasses that can be featured on various cupcakes. Apply the eyes and eyebrows to the Mr. Potato Head cupcakes using white chocolate candies, black icing and black licorice. Mr. Potato Head has large circular white eyes with black pupils. White M&Ms or large white chocolate chips, both found at bulk candy stores, will make suitable Mr. Potato Head eyes. Place either candy top side down into the top center of the cupcake. Use the black icing to create circular pupils in the middle of each candy. Apply Mr. Potato Head's bushy eyebrows with black licorice pieces or thick black icing.
