How to Make a Stick Wreath
Make a natural stick wreath to decorate your front door for the holidays or year-round. Although the wreath is created with simplistic supplies, the finished appearance will add drama to your decorating scheme. Create this wreath with a collection of branches you have collected from a nearby wooded area and a few craft supplies. You can choose to embellish the finished wreath with seasonal decor such as fall leaves or spring flowers, or with holiday decorations for Christmas or Halloween.

1
Collect sticks of similar thicknesses from nature. The amount of sticks needed will depend on the thickness of the sticks you choose, but start with at least 40 sticks to cover the grapevine wreath frame. Look for sticks that are at least 10 inches long and have 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch diameters for the best results.

2
Cut your sticks to about 10 inches long using pruning shears, or saw the ends using a hack saw. The 10-inch pieces will give you a uniform appearance when attached to the wreath. As an alternative, make a more natural-looking wreath by staggering the lengths and using 8-inch to 10-inch pieces, placed randomly.

Cut a piece of floral wire about 10 inches long using wire cutters. Bend the wire in half and wrap the wire around the grapevine wreath, twisting the two tails of wire together to secure. Then twist the ends of the wire about three times to create a loop for hanging.
-
4
Attach the sticks to the grapevine wreath form. The 8-inch round form will serve as the base for the wreath. Place the sticks pointing outward from the center, to create a sunburst appearance around the wreath form. Add a drop of glue to the front top area of the wreath, line up the thicker end of each stick with the edge of the inner circle of the wreath and press the stick to the wreath to attach. Repeat this to attach each stick around the front of the wreath form. Stagger sticks of varying diameters for a natural appearance.
-
5
Decorate the inner circle of the wreath, if desired. You can choose to leave the wreath undecorated, or you can add decorative embellishments such as crows and owls for a Halloween wreath, or cardinals and snowmen for a Christmas wreath. Glue the decorative items to the inside of the wreath using hot glue. For a natural-looking winter wreath, glue pine cones between the sticks.

Tips & Warnings
You may need additional areas of glue to secure the thicker sticks to the wreath form.
Spray paint the wreath if desired, to coordinate with a holiday theme. Spray the wreath in a pastel color for Easter, red for Christmas or orange for Halloween.
Apply glitter spray to the wreath for a little sparkle.
Use caution when cutting the branches with a hacksaw.
