Instructions

  1. Ruffled Stripes

    • 1

Cut two pieces of jersey cotton to 14 by 14 inch squares. Cut more jersey of the same or a contrasting color to eight strips, each 1-1/4 inches wide and 21 inches long.

    • 2

Sew a straight stitch down the center of the length of each strip. Pin the strips along one edge of one of the squares of jersey. Pull the bobbin thread of the stitch to gather the strip until it is 14 inches long and fits across the jersey square.

    • 3

Pin the other end of the ruffled strips to the other side of the jersey square, which will make ruffled stripes. Stitch the eight strips across the front of the square of jersey. Sew in place down their center stitch lines.

    • 4

Lay the second jersey square right side-down over the first one with the ruffles between them. Sew around the edges of the squares, leaving a 3-inch opening. Turn the pillow through the hole, and then stuff it with fiber fill. Turn the raw edges in, and hand sew closed.

    Ruffled Circles

    • 5

Cut two pieces of felt to 10 by 18 inches. Cut more felt, in the same or a contrasting color, into 60 circles with 3-inch diameters.

    • 6

Fold a circle in half and then quarters. Pin the folds with a straight pin. Hold the resulting rosette to the center of one 10-inch side of one of the felt rectangles. Hand sew the point of the rosette to the rectangle.

    • 7

Fold a second circle into corners, pinning to keep it folded, and place it very close to the first. Stitch in place. Continue with all 60 circles, forming a 3-inch by 18-inch ruffle across the center of the felt rectangle.

    • 8

Place the second rectangle over the first with the ruffles in between. Sew around the edges, leaving a 3-inch opening. Turn the pillow right side-out through the opening, and then stuff it with fiber fill. Turn the raw edges in, and hand sew it closed.
