How to Get the Mink Pin in "The World Ends With You"

Neku, your character in "The World Ends With You" on the Nintendo DS, uses pins with special powers, or psychs, to battle monsters called Noise. You get more pins by completing tasks in the game, buying them in shops, evolving them from other pins or winning them from Noise. The Mink pin is numbered 289, and you can only get it from Noise. To activate it, you blow into the microphone on the DS, creating a tornado that damages Noise. To obtain this rare pin, you have to play through the entire game, then revisit previous chapters.

Instructions

    • 1

Play through all of the chapters for each of the three characters in "The World Ends With You." Save your game, then tap "Continue." The "Chapters" option now appears on Neku's phone.

    • 2

Open the phone, tap "Chapters" and select Joshua Day 6.

    • 3

Open the phone. Change the game difficulty level to "Hard." Slide the yellow bar representing your character-level gauge to 1, lowering your hit points but increasing the chances that the Noise will drop a Mink pin.

    • 4

Walk from the Scramble Crossing, your starting point for this level, to Center Street Entrance. From there, go to AMX.

    • 5

Tap your player pin to scan the area for Noise. Tap the blue boss Noise symbol to fight the Grindcore Mink, Noise 22.

    • 6

Defeat the Noise on the hard difficulty for a chance at receiving the Mink pin as an item drop. If you don't get the pin on the first try, go to "Chapters" and select the level again, then battle the blue boss Noise at AMX until you get the pin.

Tips & Warnings

  • The Mink pin is also dropped by Noise 21, Death Thrash Mink, on the ultimate difficulty level. Buy the ultimate difficulty sticker from Shibu-Q Heads after completing the game. Noise 21 can be found throughout Shibuya on days 3, 5 and 6 of Beat's chapter.

  • The default drop rate for the Mink pin for both types of Noise is 0.30 percent. This percentage increases when you gain more character levels and lower your character level gauge. For example, if your character level is 42 and you lower the level gauge to 21, the adjusted drop rate increases to 6.60 percent. With character level 42 and the level gauge set to 1, the drop rate becomes 12.60 percent.

  • You can also increase the drop rate by engaging multiple Noise symbols in chain battles and equipping certain pins, like the Mother Lode pin.
