If spending for a tailor seems too much, alter the sleeves of a polo shirt to avoid spending money on what you can do on your own if you have the right tools and steps to follow.

Things You'll Need:

  • Sewing Machine
  • Scissors
  • Sewing Kit
  • Tailor’S Chalk
  • Tape Measure

Put on the polo shirt and use the tailor’s chalk to mark the spot where the sleeves reach your wrist. If you do not like long sleeves, mark the spot about 2 inches above your elbow or shorter if you prefer shorter sleeves.

Measure the length of the sleeves from the bottom end to the marked spot. Transfer the measurement to the other sleeve to make sure the two sleeves will have the same length.

Fold the polo short lengthwise and cut the sleeves 1 inch below the marked spot. Cutting the two sleeves at the same time will ensure that you cut them evenly.

Fold the ends of the shirt 1 inch inward and sew in the hem. Nip any loose threads.
