How to Formally Invite Fashion Editors to a Fashion Show

Fashion shows can help to develop the career of a fashion designer.

If you would like to become a fashion designer, it it imperative that you showcase your designs at fashion shows. It is important that your designs be presented to more than just friends and acquaintances, too. You will want members of the media, such as fashion editors, to attend the fashion shows and see what you have created so that they will present it to their audiences.

Instructions

1. Design a colorful and professional invitation to catch the attention of influential fashion editors. Include your contact information and the web address where your work is showcased. Be aware that the editor will be contacted by other designers as well and do your best to stand out. Be sure to include the exact time and date of the show.

2. Include photos and drawings of your designs inside of the invitation to showcase your skills. You can also include small swatches of unique fabrics that you plan to use if you are sure that they are fabrics that will used exclusively by you.

3. Have a note printed in your invitation that explains your background and outlines any special awards or accolades that you have received. Include information about your education and explain the plans that you have for the fashion line that you have created. Explain whether you plan to open a boutique or sell your designs, or if you are planning on offering your work to wholesale buyers only.

4. Address your invitation by hand and sign it personally to show that you take a personal interest in meeting with the fashion editor and having them see your work.

Tips & Warnings

• If you know for sure that the fashion editor will be attending, reserve him or her a seat at the show in the front row.
