How to Crochet a Money Pouch
If you're always finding loose change in the bottom of your purse and need a place to store it, crochet yourself a money pouch. This accessory is ideal for using up leftover yarn from previous projects and is worked entirely in single crochet, making it suitable for even the novice crocheter. The pouch measures four inches by nine inches and is finished with a drawstring to keep your coins in one place.
Instructions
-
-
1
With yarn and crochet hook, crochet a foundation chain of 21 stitches. Work one single crochet into the second chain from the hook.
-
2
Crochet the first row by working one single crochet into the back loop of each stitch across the row.
-
-
3
Crochet the second row by working one single crochet into each stitch across the row.
-
4
Repeat steps 2 and 3 for a total of 26 rows and then fasten off.
-
5
Fold the bag in half widthways and then thread the yarn through the tapestry needle. Sew each side together to seal the pouch by guiding the needle under and over the edges.
-
6
Use the tapestry needle to weave any leftover yarn tails into the stitches of the pouch so that they are invisible to the eye.
-
7
Make a drawstring by crocheting one continuous row of chain stitches that measures 20 inches. Thread the chain through the tapestry needle and weave in and out of the stitches of the top row of the pouch. Pull on each end of the drawstring to close the bag.

Tips & Warnings
Use pen and paper or a row counter to keep track of your rows.
Satin ribbon can also be used as a drawstring instead of a crocheted chain.
