How to Get Android 2.2 on a Nook
Barnes & Nobles' Nook Color natively runs the Android operating system. Barnes & Noble releases updates to the operating system periodically, such as the Android 2.2 update. The Nook 1.3 update contains the upgrade to Android 2.2, also known as Froyo. Your Nook should prompt you to upgrade your device automatically, but if it doesn't, you can manually apply the update.

1
Go to the Barnes & Noble website on a computer and search for the Nook Color software update. Click the download link for the ZIP file.
-
2
Plug your Nook into its charger if your battery is below 20 percent. You don't want to lose power during an operating system update, as that can corrupt the update or cause problems with the device.

3
Attach your Nook to the computer with the update file using the Nook's USB cable. Click "Start" and select "Computer." Double-click the Nook icon. Drag and drop the update file from your computer to your Nook. This file does not need to be unzipped or placed in a sub-folder.

4
Detach the Nook from your computer. Wait for the Nook to go into Sleep Mode. Once the device is in sleep mode, the Nook unpacks and installs the file. During the installation, your Nook reboots on its own.
