How to Decorate the Front Entrance of a Home for a Wedding

Decorate the front entrance of a home for a wedding to create a warm, welcoming environment. Guests often linger at the door for a few minutes before entering the home and may even congregate outdoors for a breath of fresh air before or after the ceremony. Decorations will also help guests find the correct house where the wedding is being held if they have never been there before. The entrance should be well-lit if the affair is in the evening.

Things You'll Need

• Tulle
• String of lights
• Hooks, tacks or small nails
• Lights or LED candles
• Wreath, flowers or balloons

Instructions

1. Drape tulle around the door frame to create the appearance of an archway. Hold the tulle in place with small hooks, nails or tacks. Twist the tulle with strings of miniature lights inside for a soft glow of light, especially for an evening or nighttime wedding.

2. Position small garden lights or lanterns along the walkway that leads up to the front door for an evening or night wedding. LED candles won't blow out and look realistic, especially if you put them inside lanterns.

3. Hang a wreath, such as a heart shape or wedding bells, on the front door. Add a picture of the bride and groom in the center of the wreath for a personal touch. Wind chimes, flowers or balloons can also decorate the front of the house.

4. Decorate the foyer with candles, the guest book or a basket of favors, such as birdseed. Use the wedding colors for a coordinated look.
