1
Measure out the following lengths on the 2-by-4 inch boards using a tape measure: two 4-foot long boards; two 6-foot long boards; six 2 1/2-foot long boards; and six 3 1/2-foot long boards. Draw a straight line on the boards at these measurements using a ruler and pencil.
-
2
Cut the boards along the straight lines using your saw. Put each board to the side as you cut it off. Stack each board in a pile according to its length. This will it easier to find them later.

3
Measure two pieces of carpet that are 6-foot long and 10-inches wide. Cut these pieces of carpet out with your carpet cutting knife. Place one strip of the cut carpet along the length of one of your 6-foot boards. Wrap the carpet around the lengthwise sides and hold it in place.
-
4
Nail the carpet to the 6-foot board along the edges of each side. Spread the nails out at 2-inch intervals on each side to make sure the carpet doesn't pull off. Repeat this process with the other 6-foot board.
-
5
Place both of your 4-foot boards flat on the ground. Put one of your 2 1/2-foot long boards on top of one of your 4-foot long boards. Hold it perpendicular to the board at one end. Hold the board sides flush with each other.
-
6
Turn over the 4-foot board against which you are holding the 2 1/2-foot board. Drill the 2 1/2-foot board into place using your electric drill and screws. Measure 2-foot down this 4-foot board and draw a line.
-
7
Place a second 2 1/2-foot board on top of the line you just drew and screw it into place with your drill and wood screws. Screw a third 2 1/2-foot board in place on the other end of the 4-foot board.
-
8
Create the other half of your frame by repeating the frame building process with your other 4-foot and 2 1/2-foot boards.
-
9
Drill a 1-inch diameter hole through one end of one of your 4-foot boards and up through the 2 1/2-foot board. Make it long enough to fit your wheels holders inside. Repeat this process on the other side of the board.
-
10
Put glue in one of the holes you just drilled in the 4-foot and 2 1/2-foot board and slide in your wheel holder. Let the glue dry and insert your wheels. Glue in the wheel holder on the other side of the same board in the same way. Repeat this process with the other holes.
-
11
Hold one of the wheeled frames in a vertical position on the wheels. Place two concrete blocks at each end of this frame to hold it up vertically. Position your other wheel frame 3 1/2-feet away from the other frame. Hold it in place with the cement blocks in the same manner.
-
12
Hold a 3 1/2-foot board at the top of your front right 2 1/2-foot board. Angle it downwards to the other frame near the wheel. Screw the 3 1/2-foot board into position here. Repeat this process on the back of the front board, but start at the top of the left board and angle downwards to the right to make an "X" with your boards. Repeat this process with the middle 2 1/2 foot boards and the back 2 1/2 foot boards. Make sure each "X" starts with a board going from right to left on the front side and then left to right on the back.
-
13
Place your 6-foot carpeted boards on top of the frame on the left and right sides. Flush the edges and let the boards run on a downward slope. Position the boards so that one foot overhangs the front and back of the dolly. Screw this into place on the 2 1/2-foot boards to finish your dolly.
