A Microsoft Secure Download Cabinet (SDC) file is a compressed, or zipped, file that is opened and installed only with the Microsoft UnpackSDC utility. The SDC file extension is also utilized by OpenOffice.org spreadsheets and may be opened using the open source OpenOffice.org spreadsheet program. However, if you are an MSDN member, and have an installation file with the SDC file extension from the MSDN Academic Alliance, the SDC file is an installation file and is installed using the Microsoft UnpackSDC tool, which is included by default in Windows.
