Instructions

  1. Vase

    • 1

Mix one part flour to five parts water in a bowl. Mix thoroughly to form the paste. If the paste starts to get thick, add a little water to thin it out.

    • 2

Cut the white paper into strips and dip them in the glue. Apply to the clean and dry glass jar.

    • 3

Continue to cover the jar in paper strips until you have three coats. Set aside and allow to dry thoroughly. When dry, paper-mache will look white instead of the gray color when wet.

    • 4

Paint your new paper vase any colors you desire. It can be painted all one color or create a pattern or scheme with multiple colors. Or, leave it white and let the flowers provide the color punch.

    Flowers

    • 5

Trim one of the floral stems so that it fits inside your vase and is the desired length.

    • 6

Apply some craft glue to the top 1/2 inch of the trimmed stem. Cover it by rolling some crepe paper around it. Repeat this step once more, forming two layers on the stem.

    • 7

Take a separate piece of crepe paper and fold it into about a dozen layers. Use scissors to cut out the shape of a petal.

    • 8

Glue the individual petals on to the flower stem you created. They should wrap around the crepe paper you already glued to the petal. Keep gluing until the flower has the desired look. Allow to dry thoroughly before placing in the vase.

Tips & Warnings

  • The edges of the floral stems can pierce skin easily so be careful when handling them.
