Covering a bulletin board with fabric makes it more attractive.

Covering a bulletin board with cloth is a good way to make it more appealing and have it match your room decor. If you change your room decorations or grow tired of the fabric on your bulletin board, you may want to change the fabric to something you like better. Recovering your cloth bulletin board is one way to revitalize its look and keep you from being tempted to buy a brand new board.

Instructions

    • 1

Iron your fabric, if needed. Turn the bulletin board over, and remove the staples holding the current fabric in place. Take the fabric off the bulletin board.

    • 2

Measure the bulletin board. Add 3 to 4 inches to the measurements and mark them on the new fabric. For example, if your bulletin board is 18-by-24 inches, measure the fabric at 21-by-27 inches. This will allow for the fabric to be folded over the back.

    • 3

Cut out the fabric and lay it on the floor, so the “good” side is against the floor. Lay the bulletin board centered on top of the fabric. The back of the bulletin board should be facing you.

    • 4

Fold one side of the extra fabric over the back of the bulletin board and pull it tight. Staple the fabric in place. Continue stapling across the side so the staples are a few inches apart. Repeat this process for the remaining three sides of the bulletin board.

Tips & Warnings

  • Crisscross ribbons across the front of the fabric on the bulletin board and staple them in place on the back of the board.
