How to Build a Wedding Ceremony Stage

How to Build a Wedding Ceremony Stage thumbnail
The wedding stage is the focal point of the wedding ceremony.

A wedding ceremony stage can be built and decorated to fit various types of weddings, from indoor to back garden and other outdoor destinations. The altar area forms the center stage of the wedding ceremony. Many wedding stages include an arch that frames the main focal region of the wedding ceremony. This is often accompanied by two side structures to complement the centerpiece.

Instructions

  1. Flower Garden

    • 1

Place the garden arbor of your choice at the center of the wedding altar area.

    • 2

Adorn the sides and center of the arbor with floral decorations such as ivy and roses or other plants and flowers of your choice.

    • 3

Secure the flower pieces to the arbor with dark green twist ties, to blend in with the color of the plants.

    • 4

Place a pillar column on each side of the arbor. Place them apart so that they do not block the view of the arbor when facing the center of the altar.

    • 5

Place identical pots of flower arrangements on top of each pillar.

    Indoor Forest

    • 6

Place a tall pear tree branch plant on each side of the wedding altar area. You may use any tree branch of your choice.

    • 7

Bend the top of each tree branch toward the center of the altar to form an arch together.

    • 8

Tie the ends of the tree branches together with a satin ribbon. Use a brown colored twist tie instead if you don't want a ribbon at the center of your arch.

    • 9

Hang string lights along the arch for an added brightness at the altar.

    • 10

Place a tall tree plant on each side of the altar. Spray paint some of the tree leaves in gold or another color of your choice, to give the trees a sparkling effect.

    Beach Bamboo

    • 11

Lay two bamboo poles flat on the floor. Place them at a distance a little less than the length of one pole.

    • 12

Place a third pole perpendicular to the top segments of the two poles on the floor.

    • 13

Drill wood screws into each intersection point to join the poles together, using the electric drill. Repeat Step 1 through 3 using three more bamboo poles.

    • 14

Have at least two people stand up each bamboo frame you built. Keep the frames apart at a distance a little less than the length of one bamboo pole.

    • 15

Place the ladder near one of the frames and carefully climb towards one of the top corners, holding another bamboo pole in your hands.

    • 16

Place one end of the bamboo pole on the top corner closest to you. Place the other end across, at its opposite corner on the other bamboo frame.

    • 17

Drill wood screws into this intersection point to keep the poles together, using the electric drill. Repeat Steps 5 through 7 for all top corners on both bamboo frames.

    • 18

Place a tulle netting or another light fabric of your choice over the top of the completed bamboo structure. Let it drape down the sides and back of the structure to create a tent, leaving only the front exposed.

    • 19

Securely tie the bottom corners of the fabric to each bamboo pole, using the rope. Decorate the front frame of the structure with tropical flowers or other flowers of your choice.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use candle lights on your wedding stage to create a more romantic atmosphere.

  • Use double instead of single poles for the bamboo wedding structure, to give it extra support and security.

  • Renting or building your own gazebo is another alternative for a wedding ceremony stage.
