Bleach a favorite pair of jeans for a new look.

Jeans are comfortable and sturdy, but over time, you may become bored with the same look. To get a new look from an old pair of jeans, bleach them so the color becomes lighter and less intense. While it is possible to simply pour bleach on the jeans for a splattered effect, you can also bleach jeans evenly. Bleaching works best on jeans made with natural fibers.

Step 5

Lay the jeans into the water, spreading them out so they lie as flat as possible. All the fabric should be covered with the water.

Step 6

Leave the jeans in the water for five minutes as you watch closely. If you notice the jeans reach the color you want in less time, remove them from the water. Keep in mind that wet denim looks darker than dry denim.
