DIY Purple Valentine Door Wreath
The traditional colors used for Valentine’s Day decorations are pink, red and white, which are associated with the heart. However, if you prefer to avoid the traditional shades but still want to decorate for the holiday, make your own Valentine’s Day wreath in another color, such as purple, using supplies from the local craft store. Things You'll Need
- Hot glue
- Purple ribbon, 1" wide
- Styrofoam heart-shaped wreath form, 12" by 1 1/2"
- Two straight pins
- Purple silk rose buds

Apply hot glue to the end of a piece of 1-inch-wide purple ribbon. Press the end of the ribbon to the side of an open heart-shaped Styrofoam wreath form. Insert a straight pin through the ribbon and into the wreath form to further secure it.

Wrap the ribbon around the wreath form. Apply more hot glue every 3 inches between the ribbon and the wreath form. Overlap the edges of the ribbon on each wrap. Once the entire form is covered, cut the end of the ribbon and secure it with more hot glue and a second straight pin.

Place the ribbon-covered wreath on a flat work surface.

Apply hot glue to the back of the rose buds and press them to the surface of the form. Keep the flowers on the upper surface and avoid the sides and back of the form. Let the glue dry for 3 to 5 minutes before using the wreath.

Tips & Warnings
Use other purple flowers instead of roses, if desired. Alternatively, use plastic purple hearts instead of the flowers.
To hang the completed wreath, use a nail or tie a ribbon around the wreath and hang it.
Use caution when using a hot glue gun to avoid possible burns. Avoid touching the metal tip of the glue gun or the glue while it is hot.
