How to Troubleshoot a Dacor Cooktop Igniter Problem

Save

If one or all of the ignitors on your Dacor gas stove fail to produce a spark, you may be inclined to contact a repair technician. Instead, try troubleshooting the problem with the range's ignition system yourself, as often the issue is only a bad igniter or spark module.

  • Attempt to light each burner by placing each knob into "Light" mode individually.

  • Listen for the clicking sound made as the spark is created. If the igniter is properly functioning, approximately three to five sparks are created per second.

  • Replace the faulty igniter if all of the igniters but one function properly.

  • Inspect the range's power cord and ensure that it is securely plugged into the wall outlet if no clicking is heard. If the power cord is plugged into the wall outlet, the spark module must be replaced.

  • Contact a licensed electrician if the clicking heard is not smooth but erratic. Erratic clicking is an indication of a reversal of the polarity at the wall outlet where the range is plugged in.
