How to Make a Facebook PSD

A file with the PSD file extension is an Adobe Photoshop graphic image file. To make a Facebook PSD, you can either create a layout for a Facebook page in Photoshop, or you can create a graphic that you will use on a Facebook page in Photoshop. PSD files are not viewable over the Web. You must convert the PSD file to a Web-compatible file type, such as the JPEG, PNG or GIF file format, to view the graphic in a web pages.

      Open Adobe Photoshop.

      Click the “File” option on the top navigation bar and then click “New.” The New Image dialog box opens.

      Type the height and width for the new image into the dimensions input boxes and click “OK.” The new blank graphic opens on the canvas.

      Click a tool in the toolbox and then click inside the blank graphic. Draw with the tool to create your artwork on the canvas. Click the “Pen” tool to draw lines, or click one of the “Shape” tools to create a square, rectangle, circle or oval.

      Add additional layers by clicking the “+” in the Layers panel.

      Import other graphic elements by opening the graphic in Photoshop, and then copying and pasting the graphic into a layer in the working PSD graphic. To copy and paste, click the “Select” pointer from the toolbox. Drag the cursor over the portion of the graphic to copy. Right-click on the selected area and click “Copy.” Right-click inside the layer to copy to, and then click “Paste.” The new graphic is imported into the selected layer.

      Click the “File” option and then click “Save.”

      Type a name for the PSD file into the “File Name” input box and click “Save.” The file is saved as a PSD file.

      Click the “File” option and then click “Save for Web & Devices.” The Save for Web dialog box opens.

      Click the “File Type” drop-down box in the right pane, and then click on a web-compatible graphic type; for example, click the “JPEG” option.

      Change any of the desired optional settings, such as Quality, and then click the “Save” button. The PSD file is ready to be uploaded and used on a Facebook page.
