DIY Sitting Pillows

Floor pillows, stuffed with soft shredded foam, store away when you don't need them and serve as comfortable extra seating when you do. If you can sew a straight line, you can make up a few of these pillows in a weekend so you'll have them for your next get together. They work well for children as comfortable television-watching seats, too. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Cut fabric into two 26 by 26 inch pieces. Press each piece. Layer the pieces right sides together and pin around the edges.

    • 2

Sew around the edges with a 1 inch seam, leaving a 6 inch opening for turning. Press the seams open all around. Fold one corner into a triangle and press. Measure from the point of the triangle down 6 inches and draw a line across the corner. Sew across this line. Repeat on all four corners. Trim the corners to 1/2 inch from the seam. Clip the sides of the corner seams and press them open.

Turn the pillow cover right side out through the opening in the side seam. Fill the pillow through the same hole with shredded foam. Shredded foam is light weight and holds its shape well after the pillow is sat on. It can be found in most craft stores.

Tuck the edges of the opening in and pin closed. Sew across the opening to close the seam.
