How to Mount a Snow Plow on a 2006 F-150
Mounting a snow plow to the front of a Ford 2006 F-150 is simple after you attach the mounting bracket of the plow to the frame of the truck. Once the mounting bracket is in place, attaching and detaching the plow takes less than a minute for most systems. In some cases, attaching a snow plow is a one-person job; others necessitate two. The difficultly isn't in attaching the plow, but in lining up the brackets on the plow to the mount on the truck.

1
Purchase a receiver mount specifically designed for the 2006 F-150. Each mount is designed for a different make and model of truck. Few are interchangeable. The plows, on the other hand, are.

2
Park the Ford on a level grade. Mount the receiver hitch on the front of the F-150. The receiver hitch mounts to the frame of a F-150. Slide the receiver hitch arms between the two frame center beams by getting under the truck and pushing it up between them.

3
Slide bolts through the holes in the center beams -- from the outside, the inside being between them -- and into, and out of, the holes in the receiver hitch. The butts of opposing bolts face one another. There are six prefabricated holes, though most snowplow receiver hitches only require four bolts. Washer and nut the receiver hitch in place.

Attach the snowplow to the receiver hitch. There are several types. Some require two people, others only one. However, they all mount the same. The tongue on the back of the plow slides into the receiver hitch. Drive the truck forward and slide the tongue into the receiver. Some plows have guides that put the tongue in the mount hole without the assistance of a second person, others require a partner. Slide bolts through the holes in the receiver hitch, and through the tongue of the plow as a result, and secure them in place with cotter pins.
