Instructions

    • 1

Note the placement of your outdoor outlet in relation to your porch railing, if you have access to one. If it's near enough, you may not need an extension cord. If you don't have an outdoor outlet, you may be able to run an extension cord from inside your garage or possibly from an outlet inside your front door.

    • 2

Tape the extension cord in place, if it is needed, to keep it from shifting around and to reduce the possibility that your family or guests will trip on it. Use weatherproof mounting tape for the best results and for clean removal.

    • 3

Attach the wire securely around the end of the garland and around the top of your railing. Wrap the remainder of the garland around the railing, going from top to bottom. Fasten it to the end of the railing with more wire.

    • 4

Attach the Christmas lights to the railing. Floral wire can also be used to attach it to the railing, but use a gentler touch as you don't want to damage any of the wiring in the light strand. Wrap the strand of lights around the railing and the garland. Wrap in the same direction for the most uniform look. Anchor the strand at the bottom of the railing in a similar fashion -- it needs to stay in place but don't do it too tightly.

Plug in the lights every evening to add Christmas delight to your family and passersby.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you live in a dry area, attach Christmas ornaments or artificial birds to the garland for an additional cheerful touch.

  • Disconnect the lights at bedtime or when you are away from home to reduce the chances of fire.
