DIY: Whisker Poles
Whisker poles are used to extend the jib of a sailboat when the boat is sailing downwind. They are also used to stabilize the jib by keeping it to the opposite side of the main in clean air. The typical length for a whisker pole is the same length as the sail to which is will be used. If you require a whisker pole with a small sail boat you can make one yourself after a visit to your local hardware store.
