How to Update an EPO Server
To ensure that the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) server continually protects your organization's IT network to the highest degree, update it regularly with the latest versions of security and integration programs. EPO upgrades its stable-version releases and is constantly developing new security solutions to meet the changing threats that an IT infrastructure faces. Updating your ePO server to the latest version is essential for ensuring the viability of your security solution.
Instructions
-
-
1
Log into the current ePO version running on your server with the administrator user account. Only a user with administrator-level permissions can upgrade the ePO server.
-
2
Verify that the latest MySQL (Structured Query Language) database is running. This database architecture stores data that is input through the ePO server.
-
-
3
Enter the ePO product CD into the CD-Rom. Select the Setup Wizard icon that appears. If you downloaded ePO, navigate to the storage location for the ePO files. Double-click "Setup.exe."
-
4
Enter the administrator login information under the "Set Administrator Information" window.
-
5
Enter the username and password of the Windows NT user in the "Set Database Information" window. The new version of ePO uses this username and password to access the database. If you do not want to use that username for access permissions, enter the username and password that was used to create the MySQL database.
-
6
Click "Install" in the "Start Copying Files" window. The update is now underway. When it finishes, click "Finished."

Tips & Warnings
If you update from one patch upgrade to another, rather than one stable version to another, you can click a button that says "upgrade to latest patch version" rather than going through the lengthier installation of a full-version update.
