How to Terminate a Header Wrap

How to Terminate a Header Wrap thumbnail
Header wraps increase exhaust temperatures to increase performance.

A header wrap is a titanium, fiberglass or aluminum tape, designed to insulate and muffle exhaust-pipe noise. Header wraps strategically placed help increase exhaust temperature, with increased horsepower as the ultimate goal. Terminating header wraps to prevent slippage and unwanted movement from these locations along the exhaust helps ensure peak performance.

Instructions

    • 1

Place an exhaust clamp around the starting point of the header wrap. Tighten the clamp with the hex-head or Phillips screwdriver.

    • 2

Wrap the header wrap tightly around the exhaust to the desired amount, based on your individual performance goals. Ensure each turn overlaps the last by 1/4 inch for maximum coverage.

    • 3

Snip the wrap with the metal shears. Secure the end of the wrap with an additional exhaust clamp.
