How to Add a Border for an Upholstery Headboard
Upholstered headboards are a comfortable way to decorate a bedroom, although many styles are monotone and in need of embellishment. Instead of dismantling the headboard to add a decorative border, attach flat-backed rhinestones. Rhinestones are inexpensive and available in a variety of colors and are attached to the existing upholstery with glue. Create a pattern and attach the rhinestones with the correct type of glue to ensure the stone adheres and no damage occurs to the fabric. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Outline a pattern on the upholstered headboard with a washable marker. Place dots on the fabric to denote where the rhinestones will be placed. Create a decorative pattern that features geometric designs or keep it simple by creating one or several rows. Use a fabric tape measure to create a more precise pattern.

Wipe down the back of the rhinestones with a damp cloth to remove any dust or debris. Place a dab of fabric glue onto the rhinestone’s back with a cotton swab. Do not cover the rhinestone with an excessive amount of glue to ensure it does not seep onto the surrounding fabric after placement.
