1
Check that the handset ringer software switch is turned on if you do not hear the phone ring. The handset's Visual Ringer Indicator will light up when the phone rings or a message has been left in your voice mail. Remove any extra extension phones, then recheck for a dial tone if your phone still does not ring.
-
2
Move the phone's base close to the handset if the phone fades out or you hear noise or static. Move other household appliances that may cause interference to another room or electrical outlet. Microwaves, vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, electric tools, such as drills are a few examples. Move the base if you still hear interference or audio unevenness.

Verify that the outlet is working if you do not hear a dial tone. Check that the base power cord is securely plugged into to the electrical outlet. Confirm that the telephone line is securely connected to the wall jack and base.

Remove the phone and plug in the spare corded phone to verify that the phone line is working if you still do not hear a dial tone. Check the battery pack and verify that it is correctly installed. Charge the battery if you press the "Talk/Call Back" button and the charge indicator does not light up. Charge the handset for 30 seconds to reset the phone. If you still do not hear a dial tone, use your cell phone and contact your telephone service to test the line.
