The iTunes application, which is compatible with both Mac and Windows computers, tags content as explicit if it contains cuss words or other inappropriate language. When configuring the settings on an iPod touch, you have the ability to enable content restrictions and block explicit material from being played on the device. The first time you set up content restrictions, you must choose a four-digit pass code to lock and unlock the restricted material.

      Tap on the "Settings" icon from the iPod touch's home screen.

      Tap the "General" section of the main menu and then tap "Restrictions."

      Tap on the "Enable Restrictions" button at the top of the screen.

      Use the on-screen number pad to enter a four-digit pass code. After you choose the pass code, enter it again when prompted to confirm your choice.

      Tap on the "Music & Podcasts" item in the Allowed Content section of the menu.

      Slide the bar labeled "Explicit" to the "Off" position to block the iPod from playing any content that iTunes has marked as explicit.
