How to Stop the Em Dash From Converting to Code in cPanel

Various symbols and characters will often convert into code of some variety when you type them into your computer. On the Web and in the command line, the various types of dash, including the em dash (—), will convert into something else. If you are using cPanel, the Web control panel, you can enter an em dash when creating a document file. Therefore, if this file is a script of some variety, the em dash will be coded. You can stop this coding by "commenting" the line. Commented lines do not convert to code.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to cPanel, click the "File Manager" and then click the script into which you want to insert your em dash.

    • 2

Browse through the script to where you want to insert your em dash.

    • 3

Type a hash symbol (#) at the beginning of the line to comment the line. Type your em dash on this line; it will not convert to code.

    • 4

      Click "Save."
