How to Open the Trunk of a 1999 Mercedes-Benz 230 Kompressor When the Battery Is Dead

The Mercedes-Benz C 230 Kompressor, like the rest of the German automaker's 1999 vehicles, utilized a central locking system. The trunk could be released via an electronic button inside the passenger cabin, or the remote key fob could be used to remotely open it. In the event of a dead battery, though, these convenience-oriented gadgets are rendered useless, and you must resort to opening the Mercedes' trunk manually.

Instructions

1. Locate and release the blade key portion of the Mercedes' electronic key fob.

2. Place the blade key into the trunk's keyhole.

3. Turn the blade key to the left; it should stop at 45 degrees.

4. Push the key in toward the Mercedes' trunk. The trunk will unlock, allowing you to open it all the way.
