How to Sew a Men's Swimsuit
Men's swimsuits are easy to make with the right materials. Be sure to get the proper measurements from the man who will wear the swimsuit and leave plenty of room for the seams. Use a pattern from your local sewing shop to get the proper shape before beginning the project. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 yard of nylon or polyester fabric in any pattern
- Mesh for lining (white is the best choice)
- Pattern
- Shears
- Thread and needle
- Sewing machine
- Button
- Zipper

Wash the material first. This is necessary to pre-shrink it so that it is the correct size when finished.

Trace the pattern onto the fabric and cut the fabric. Sewing from the inside to create a more hidden seam, use your sewing machine to sew the pieces together in the middle, leaving the sides unattached for now. Leave an area open for the button and zipper.

Pin the zipper to the opening, then sew it on using your sewing machine. Sew a button on as well, using your button attachment on your sewing machine or by hand. Create a button hole by cutting the material in the appropriate spot, then sewing around the inside edge to prevent fraying.

Cut the mesh from the same pattern. Shorten the length and sew it together in the same way as the shorts. Next, sew the lining to the inside of the shorts.

Sew together the sides of the swimsuit to complete it. Be sure to face the sides inward together, then sew from the inside of the shorts to create a professional finish.
