Troubleshooting the Throttle on a Schwinn S750
Although Schwinn is mostly known for manufacturing bicycles, the company also makes scooters, such as the S750 model. The S750 is a lightweight, motorized scooter that comes equipped with a throttle bar on the handle. If you have been having problems with the throttle, it could be the result of a bad connection. In any case, there is a quick way to troubleshoot the throttle to find out exactly what is going on.
Instructions
-
-
1
Switch the throttle switch to the "On" position.
-
2
Unplug the throttle wire from the controller/motor to expose the throttle wires.
-
-
3
Turn on your multimeter and switch the front dial so that it reads in ohms.
-
4
Touch the red wire lead from the multimeter to the end of the wiring. Touch the black lead to a nonelectrical area to ground the meter.
-
5
Wait for the meter to produce a reading. The throttle should produce up to 5,000 ohms of resistance as it is activated, and then fall to 100 ohms. If there is weak reading or nothing at, the throttle could be damaged and need to be replaced.
-
6
Plug the throttle wiring back in and check all wiring connections from the controller to the throttle. Make sure the lines are secure. If this is done and there are still problems with the throttle, it could be a bad cable, which needs to be replaced.
