How to Convert MHT on a Desktop
A file with the MHT file extension is a Microsoft MHTML Web archive file. MHTML files are designed to be opened and viewed using a Microsoft product, such as Internet Explorer or Microsoft Office Word. Converting a file with an MHT file extension on your desktop requires opening the MHMTL file in Microsoft Word and then saving it as a Word document.

Right-click on the file with the MHT extension to open the File context menu.

Click the “Open With” option. A list of installed programs displays.

Scroll to and click on “Microsoft Office Word.” The MHT file opens in Word.

Click “File” on the top toolbar in Word and then click “Save As.”

Type a name for the document in the “File Name” field.

Click the “Save as Type” drop-down arrow and choose the “Microsoft Word (.docx)” option from the drop-down options. Click the “Save” button. The MHT file is converted and saved as a Word document.

Tips & Warnings
You can select another file type, such as “Rich Text Format (*.rtf)," for converting and saving the MHT file. Simply click another file-type option from the “Save as Type” list.
