How to Build a Box From "Magic: The Gathering" Cards

Use your deck of "Magic" cards to build a box.

Collecting "Magic: The Gathering" cards is necessary to ensure you have the best deck possible. However, the collection process can leave you with stacks of unneeded cards. Instead of allowing this unused game memorabilia to collect dust, create a simple box by recycling your unwanted or unusable cards. This inexpensive project is fairly quick to create and only requires basic folding skills to complete successfully. Don't worry if you don't have many unwanted playing cards. You'll only need to part with six cards to complete a small box.

Things You'll Need

• 6 "Magic: the Gathering" playing cards
• Craft glue

Instructions

1. Lay two of your "Magic" cards on a flat surface. Arrange them at a 90-degree angle; place one card vertically and place the other horizontally on top across the first card's middle.

2. Fold the top and bottom edges of the vertical card to meet up with the horizontal edges of the card on top. Flip the cards over and repeat this folding process except this time fold the overhanging horizontal edges to meet up with the vertical card's sides. Separate the two cards and set them aside. Repeat this step two more times to end up with a total of three pairs, or six individually folded cards.

3. Hold one of the folded cards vertically upright with one of the creased edges resting flat on the work surface to form the first side of the box. Lay another folded card horizontally on the work surface so that its unfolded edge meets the folded edge of the vertical card to form the bottom of the box.

4. Introduce a third folded card to act as the second side of the box by placing it horizontally upright. Ensure that its unfolded edge meets up with the folded edge of the flat, horizontal card. One of its folded edges should wrap around one unfolded edge of the vertical card.

5. Add another side to the box that mirrors the first vertical side you installed.

6. Add a final side to mirror the second horizontal side you installed.

7. Glue down all the overhanging folded edges with craft glue. Allow your box to dry for about two hours.

8. Lay your sixth and final card over the top opening to mirror the position of the bottom card. Glue one of its overhanging edges to the outside of the box. Allow it to dry for about two hours. Tuck the remaining edge into your new "Magic: The Gathering" card box.
