A sari is a garment worn by females of Indian descent. It is often worn at special ceremonies and for formal occasions. The sari must be wrapped around the woman’s body in a specific way. An average sari measures around four feet long. It is folded into pleats around the waist and draped over the woman’s body for an elegant look.       Put on the petticoat, which will be worn under the sari. Tuck the non-patterned edge of the Sari under the Petticoat waist band on your right side. Wrap the other end of the Sari completely around your waist, going toward the left.

      Pick up the other end of the sari, which has a pattern. Wrap the end around your waist, going from left to right. Pull the end up over your shoulder and allow the end to drape from your shoulder.

      Gather the remaining material of the sari to pleat at your waist. Fold the material into pleats that are five to six inches wide. Ensure the bottom of the sari is even all around. Gather the folded pleats and tuck them into the petticoat waist band.

      Drape the loose end of the sari to style as desired.

  • Some common ways to style the end of the sari are draping it over your shoulder and tucking it into the waist band, or adding extra pleats and securing them with a pin.
