How to Add a Social Media HTML Icon to an Email Signature

Email signatures used to contain just a name, a phone number and possibly a job title or address, but social networking sites have started to change that. Some are now placing their social networking information in email signatures, going so far as to include the actual icons using HTML. If you would like to take a similar route and link to your social networking profiles using HTML icons, you can do so in just a few steps.

Instructions

    • 1

      Start your preferred email application.

    • 2

Open your email application's options screen and choose to edit your email signature. There are hundreds of email applications and none work the same way -- you may have to consult your application's help file if you aren't sure how to access this screen.

    • 3

Type the following code into the signature box:

      <a href="http://www.socialmediasite.com"><img src="http://www.example.com/image.gif"></a>

    • 4

Replace "http://www.socialmediasite.com" from Step 4 with the URL of the social networking profile you want to link to.

    • 5

Remove "http://www.example.com/image.gif" from the code in Step 4 and replace it with the URL of the social networking image you want to use for your link.

    • 6

Save your changes. Every email you send from now on will contain a social media icon linked to your social networking profile at the bottom.
