How to Advertise by Canvassing
Advertising can be one of the most important aspects of owning or operating a successful business. However, you may become frustrated when you feel like you have explored all of your advertising options. One solution can be advertising by canvassing. Canvassing involves going door-to-door to advertise your business's services. Using canvassing to advertise can expose your business to new potential customers who may have previously been unaware of your services.

1
Use a map to plan out where you want to canvass. This may also involve some research into areas where your business would be most needed. For instance, if you are advertising pet walking and sitting services, you would not want to canvass an apartment complex that does not allow pets.
-
2
Get help from other employees. The more people you have canvassing, the more area you will cover and the better chance you will have at successfully attracting more clients.

3
Bring pamphlets, brochures or flyers with you. Whichever document you choose should contain your business's location and contact information, as well as a reference to the services your business provides. You will want to leave prospective clients with something they can keep for future reference. Coupons are also helpful for attracting customers, but they are optional.
-
4
Keep your sales pitch short and to the point. Prospective customers will be more likely to listen if they do not feel like you are wasting their time with an endless sales tactic. Simply introduce yourself and the company you represent, and then ask if they would be interested in your services. Whether the answer is "yes" or "no," leave your pamphlet or flyer with them.
-
5
Give those who answer "yes" more information about your services, prices and any other pertinent information you think may influence them to use your business.
-
6
Leave your pamphlet or flyer at the door if no one answers. Even if you are not able to speak to a live person, you may still attract customers through your literature.
