The "Grand Theft Auto" series of video games continues to be very popular.

The "Grand Theft Auto" series was developed and is published by Rockstar Games. In "Grand Theft Auto," players can do virtually whatever they wish (within the limits of the game), including committing a variety of crimes. Players looking to add a more personal touch to their in-game character may choose to add their own custom skin. Skin modding is officially supported only in the PC version of "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City."

Instructions

    • 1

Obtain the skin you wish to place upon your character. Skins can be obtained from many websites such as The GTA Place or the "Grand Theft Auto" section of Filefront.com. You may also obtain skins from Gamespy on their "Planet Grand Theft Auto" site. Skins are downloaded to your computer as either JPEG or BMP files.

    • 2

Open the "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" directory. If you are playing "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" via Steam, you will find the game's directory in the “Steamapps\Common” folder. If you are not using Steam, "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" will be in the location you chose when you first installed the game. Traditionally, it is somewhere on the C: drive (for example, C:\User\Program Files\GTA Vice City).

Open the “Skins” folder within the "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" directory. (Look for a JPEG file named “texture_guide.” This indicates that you are in the correct folder.) To add the new skin for your character, drag the skin image that you downloaded to your computer into the “Skins” folder.

    • 4

Launch "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City," click “Options" and then click “Player Skin Options" to arrive at the menu where you may select the new skin for your character. You should see the skin you recently placed in the “Skins” folder. Select the skin you wish to apply to your character. When you launch the game again, your character will appear in that skin.
