1
Coat the exterior border of the lawn with pet repellent spray. These nontoxic deterrents are often made with potent ingredients that dogs don't like to smell or taste, and dogs will avoid your lawn after catching a whiff of the spray. Reapply after rain showers or watering plants near the border of the lawn.

2
Place a number of electronic pet repellers over the surface of the lawn. Electronic repellers emit an ultrasonic frequency that humans can’t hear but dogs find extremely irritating. Most repellers are battery operated and will keep dogs away from your lawn for hours on one set of batteries.

3
Erect motion-activated sprinklers near the edge of your artificial lawn. Each sprinkler has a little motion sensor near the bottom of the sprinkler head that turns on and blasts unwanted dogs with a powerful jet of water. Rotate the position of the sprinklers weekly to prevent neighborhood dogs from becoming familiar with their location.

4
Fence your artificial lawn as a last resort. Even short fences are enough to deter the majority of roaming dogs. The fence can be as simple or elaborate as you like, but the material needs to be strong enough to prevent large dogs from walking through it.
