How to Make a Reflector for Photos

How to Make a Reflector for Photos thumbnail
A photo reflector is necessary for professional photography.

If you are serious about photography, a reflector is one of the most essential accessories you will need to have. Reflectors greatly improve the quality of your photos by reflecting light on to your subject, producing even-toned lighting. However, reflectors can be expensive. Instead of purchasing a reflector, you can build one yourself with just a few materials. The gold side of your reflector will reflect warm light, while the silver side will reflect cool light.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 white foam boards
  • Gold and silver metallic spray paint
  • Flat black spray paint

Spray one side of the other foam board with silver metallic spray paint, then wait for it to dry.

Tape the two foam boards together using the duct tape. Press half of the duct tape onto the long side of the first board, then press the second half onto the long side of the second board. Flip the boards over and tape the other side.
