How to Make a Half-Round Dimpled Metal
Half-round dimples are circular pressings into metal that produce an indentation on one side of the metal and a protrusion on the other. Metal can be dimpled when creating decorative pieces, jewelry or to add ornamentation to the metal casing of a project. Making half-round dimpled metal requires dimple-forming pliers, which are available in many different sizes to produce dimpling of varying diameters.

1
Draw out the area on the metal where you wish to make the half-round dimples. Use a pencil so that the outline can be removed easily.

2
Place the metal in between the pliers where you wish to start dimpling. Press firmly on the handles to make the first dimple.

3
Move the pliers over to where you wish to make the next dimple, and press down firmly on the handles again. Repeat until you have sufficiently dimpled the metal to your specifications.
